The Benefits of Telehealth

HealthStar, and HealthStar Physicians Premier Medical, have recently launched a new program called Telehealth. Once more popular for use by people who can’t easily leave their homes, Telehealth is ideal for keeping those who may be infected with COVID-19 from spreading it to other HealthStar patients.

How does Telehealth work?

Any HealthStar patient that has access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with a camera and microphone can contact our office at (423) 532-8621 to request a Telehealth appointment. You’ll receive a confirmation email, which will give detailed instructions for how to connect with your HealthStar Physicians Premier Medical provider. We’ll be here to help, every step of the way.

During your appointment, you’ll use your smartphone, computer or tablet to speak with your healthcare provider. They will discuss your symptoms with you, and determine what the next steps in care will be–just like a regular office visit.

Can I use Telehealth for conditions other than the novel coronavirus?

Absolutely! We encourage our patients to try this new method of healthcare communication if:

  • You want to discuss any health concern with us.
  • You are nervous about visiting our clinic in-person right now.
  • You can’t easily leave home, because you are caring for a dependent.
  • You can’t easily leave home, because it’s hard for you to get around.

What if I still want to come into the clinic?

Telehealth is simply a new tool for our patients to get the best healthcare access we can possibly provide. It’s not meant to replace traditional healthcare, only add to it. Healthcare visits are considered essential, so they are valid reasons for you to leave home. We want to make sure you are well taken care of.

We encourage our patients to keep their scheduled appointments to visit the clinic. Contact us to make or confirm an appointment.

HealthStar Physicians Premier Medical is still open for regular clinic hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patients who call us after 4:30 will speak to our answering service.

How do I know if I have COVID-19?

Symptoms for COVID-19 can seem a bit like the flu, with some differences. Each person will have differing symptoms, depending on their age, pre-existing conditions and immune function.

Common COVID-19 symptoms include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Body aches
  • Fatigue
